Brazillian wonder-kid arriving at Barça?

Neymar's future has been uncertain for a long time now. Clubs from every top European league seem to be queuing up for his signature. But the speculation is drawing to a close and the fight for Neymar's signature has turned into a two horse race between the Spanish giants.

This will all have to wait until 2014 as Neymar recently snubbed the transfer talk and extended his contract with current club Santos. That doesn't mean Real and Barça can't fight for the first chance to sign the 19 year old.

It was recently reported that Barcelona have agreed a fee with Santos for first dibs at Neymar. But any deal that Barça would try to carve out will be met by competition from Real Madrid as well as a hefty price tag. Neymar is currently on £90,000 a week wages in an attempt to see off the European clubs but Barça will try to combat that by offering a deal worth €7 million euros a year. This would put him in the same wage bracket as World Cup winners David Villa and Xavi.

Neymar has received plenty of support regarding his decision and most have advised him for a switch to the Camp Nou. Stars such as Robiniho and Messi have each offered their opinion regarding the matter. Robiniho recalled his past experience of moving from Santos to Real Madrid, claiming he thought Real Madrid was the best club in the world but found that wasn't true after he made his move.

He advised Neymar that if he made the switch he will have to accept not being the star of the club anymore and face the possibility of sitting on the bench, alongside previous "wonder-kids." Also suggesting Neymar goes where his heart tells him to not where the most money lies.

Messi weighed in on the debate by admitting Neymar would be a welcome addition to the Barcelona attacking options. The praise came after Barcelona saw off Santos in the Clubs Worls Cup final. A game in which Neymar claimed Barcelona "taught us how to play football."

Maybe the most important person in this, other than Neymar, is Pep Guardiola. Barcelona president Sandro Rosell admitted Guardiola had yet to decide wether to sign Neymar. "Do I want to sign Neymar? That decision is up to the coach. I'm only the president," Rosell told A Tribuna. Rosell also went on to say Barça are not yet thinking about the transfer as a crucial period for the club is on the horizon.

For now Neymar will continue to earn plaudits in Brazil and Barcelona will continue to challenge for the Spanish treble. The only thing in their way is a determined Real Madrid side. Either way this season is shaping up to be a cracker.

Osasuna shock Barça

Guardiola and substitute Iniesta  Osasuna battled the icy conditions to produce a shock 3-2 victory over Barcelona. The Catalans' poor away form continued as they failed to adapt to a frozen pitch and conceded two early goals. A comeback looked likely when Alexis scored in the 50th minute but Barça's hopes faded when Raúl Garcia scored Osasuna's third. Osasuna adapted to the conditions the quickest and found themselves ahead in the fourth minute. Lekic was the recipient of a clever pass that gave him space in the box and he calmly finished past Valdés to make it 1-0. Pedro stared the game but for a player who's game heavily relies on his pace, a frozen pitch is a nightmare. The winger failed to get past any defenders and his shot fired disappointingly wide. Pedro's nightmare was representative of the whole Barcelona game, the world class passing was unable to function in such cold conditions. Lekic doubled his goal tally in the 21st minute. A Barcelona-esqu...

Barcelona book their place in the final

Xavi rejoices after sealing the win Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final after beating Valencia 2-0 at the Camp Nou. Barcelona were the better team on the night and if they had taken a few more chances, would've killed the game off very early on. Cesc Fàbregas and Xavi Hernandez were both on the score sheet as Barça ensured Pep Guardiola's twelfth final since he arrived on the Barça bench. Both teams started the game with equal opportunities but neither side could create any real goal scoring chances. Feghouli saw his shot hit the side netting before the deadlock was broken in the 15th minute. Cesc Fàbregas made a well timed run and was picked out by Lionel Messi from inside his own half. The summer signing looked to have overrun the opportunity but you can never rule out an inform player such as Fàbregas from finding the net. From the acutest angle Fàbregas chipped the ball over the Valencia keeper and put Barça ahead. This goal jetted Barça i...

Pep's toughest challenge yet?

Currently sitting seven points behind Real Madrid in the league, Pep Guardiola is experiencing his worse season at Barça since he took the reigns in 2008. Madrid's consistency home and away this season has shone a bright spotlight on Barcelona's fragile away form and Mourinho's men are now favourites to claim the title. Last season Barcelona only dropped points on eight occasions, those being two defeats and six draws, and earned themselves their 21st La Liga title. Meanwhile this season they have already dropped points on seven occasions with eighteen games left to play. Worryingly for Guardiola, Madrid have dropped points on three times this season compared to last season's nine. Many have hailed this Barça side as the greatest side in the world, maybe ever. But José's genius may have finally toppled the Champions. To accomplish the impossible and claim back a seven point deficit would surely seal their names in the history books at the best ever. A seven po...
